Energy Buzz
Challenge
Energy Buzz approached Arch Creative to produce a short explainer video to introduce their company’s offering. I was challenged with the task of producing the look and feel for the video and the animation.
Solution
I initially approached the brief by developing a few initial styleframes. These set the tone and aimed to portray the means of visual communication. Once the look and feel was agreed upon I then set out a detailed storyboard using the developed artwork to show the flow of the video. Sitting alongside the script the client was able to visually engage with the video before we had created it.
The animation aims to inform new customers of Energy Buzz’s offering and services through the means of playful animation. The upbeat nature of the video holds the attention of the viewer and draws in interest.
I was keen to use an illustrative 2D character style that offered itself to a craft driven approach - reflecting upon hand drawn styles. With this in mind, I added subtle touches to lean upon this idea. A 2D boil effect was applied to nod to the cel animation of times before, as seen in older hand drawn Disney films. This offers a tangible look and feel and evokes emotion that would otherwise be lost in static visuals.
