Challenge

I challenged myself to produce a short 2D animation that uses sound and character animation to drive the narrative.

Solution

I’m a big fan of comedy. This short is a passion project born from a hot office and draws upon the most annoying sound of all. A broken fan. It’s something which keeps us alive yet it pains our ears. I had a ton of fun playing with this concept and decided to use sound to drive the scenarios.

This was a fun project and an opportunity to develop my illustration skills and put them into motion through 2D animation. I illustrated and designed the scenes in Illustrator and animated them in After Effects. The sound effects were carefully selected and edited into the timeline using Animation Composer. The end result was a success and garnered a fair bit of attention on Instagram.

Software used included Illustrator, After Effects and Audition.
