Challenge

Create a fake 3D camera transition that allows for two different perspectives.

Solution

I developed this motion test in preparation for a client animation project. I wanted to explore the use of fake 3D transitions as they offer a lot of interest to an animation and helps to immerse the viewer further into the scenario. I set up the scene to enable me to move from a head shot to a point of view shot in one single camera move. I used a joystick and slider to control the head rig which allowed me to parallax the facial features giving the head a fake 3D effect. Overall the setup was a success and has been recieved very well by the client. The work was finally shared by AE Scripts on their Instagram channel which saw over 6,000 likes.

Software used included Illustrator, After Effects and Joysticks & Sliders.
